Dropping the Atomic Bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki was the turning point of World War II. President Truman made the decision to drop the bombs and on August 6, 1945, the world would change forever. If the bombs had not been dropped, who knows how much longer the war would have gone on. Not only did the bombs cause major damage but it also boosted us ahead of the Soviet Union in the nuclear arms race. The total number of deaths are not certain, but in the first day, it is estimated that 700,000 people were killed. Not only was it a turning point in the war, but also in weaponry.
